Who we are

Dawson Wallace Construction Ltd. is a general contractor with offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge. We handle personal information under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and, where it applies, British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

What we collect and why

• Project inquiries. Your name, company, email, phone number and the project details you send us, so we can respond and prepare for a conversation about your project.
• Job applications. Your name, contact details, the role and office you're interested in, your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile if you include them, so we can consider you for current and future roles.
• Bidder pre-qualification. Your company name, contact person, email, phone number, trade, regions and the documents you send, such as the pre-qualification form, insurance and safety records, so we can qualify your company to bid.
• Trade safety orientation. Your name, company, trade, the project you're working on, your orientation results and completion code, and photos of any safety tickets you provide with their expiry dates. We use these to confirm your training before you work on our sites and to keep the safety records the law requires for each project.
• Site visits. When you browse this site it counts your visit anonymously: which pages you view, how long each one stays on screen and how far you scroll, the site that sent you here, your device type (phone, tablet or computer), your device's time zone, and taps on our phone numbers, email links, LinkedIn and downloads. It doesn't record your name, IP address or anything you type, and it doesn't use cookies. A random code kept in your browser's local storage lets us tell a returning visitor from a new one; clearing your browser data removes it. We use these totals to see what's useful on the site.

How it's stored

Submissions go directly into Dawson Wallace's Microsoft 365 systems (Outlook and SharePoint) through Microsoft Power Automate. Orientation records and ticket photos are filed in the safety records of the project you choose. Our service providers may store or process information outside Alberta or Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We limit access to the people who need it and use the security tools built into these systems.

Who sees it

Only Dawson Wallace staff who need it for the purpose you sent it for, and for orientation records, the project team running that site. We share information outside the company only when the law requires it, for example with occupational health and safety officials investigating a site, or with your consent.

How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected and as long as the law requires, then delete it securely. Orientation and safety records stay with the project's records. Applications we don't move forward with are removed periodically.

This website

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your device's IP address to deliver them. If we show our latest LinkedIn posts on the homepage, that feed is provided by a third party and may set its own cookies. We don't run advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to us using it, subject to legal and project record requirements. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
